What is in season

Fruit by the month

We buy what is ripe and plentiful, which keeps prices fair and flavour high. Here is our year in Lagos markets.

Our fruit

Six we cannot live without

A pineapple cut in half on a wooden board

Pineapple

From the farms of Ogun and Oyo. We choose by smell, not colour.

Fresh watermelon slices on a white plate

Watermelon

Heavy loads arrive from the north from November. Halves and quarters on request.

Sliced orange pawpaw

Pawpaw

All year round. Tell us if you want it ripe today or in three days.

A single yellow mango

Mango

Our favourite season: April to June. We stop selling when they are not sweet.

Sliced oranges on a white plate

Oranges

Sweet and juicy from September. Also pressed into our orange sunrise.

Sliced pawpaw on a green banana leaf

Agbalumo

The African star apple, from late November. A Lagos winter treat.

Before dawn

Our market mornings

Our buyers, Mama Bisi and Kunle, are at the market by 4:30am three days a week. They have bought from the same traders for years, which means first choice and fair prices. Fruit is checked one by one; bruised fruit goes to our juice kitchen, never into your crate.

We pay our traders the same day, always.

At home

Keeping fruit at its best

  1. 1

    Bananas apart

Keep them away from other fruit; they ripen everything around them.

  2. 2

    Cut melon, covered

Wrap and refrigerate, eat within three days.

  3. 3

    Pineapple upside down

Stand it on its leaves for a day to spread the sweetness.

  4. 4

    Pawpaw in paper

Wrap in newspaper to ripen faster on the counter.

Order by Friday 6pm for Saturday

Build a box on the site or just send us a voice note. We confirm on WhatsApp, you pay by transfer, and the crate arrives cold.
