Small on purpose.

Thirty-two residents, sixty-one staff, one garden. Small enough that the cook knows who likes their pepper soup hot, and the night carer knows who likes the door ajar.

The garden

Frangipani, a fish pond, and a bench every twenty steps.

The garden was planted by the family who first lived here. We kept the mango tree, added raised beds at chair height and laid paths with no steps, so everyone can get out every day.

“My mother chose Ashgrove because the cook makes edikang ikong the way she does. She stayed because they let her get up when she wants.”

Care and support

Help when you want it. Privacy when you do not.

Some residents need only a carer on call. Others want help with washing, dressing and medicines at set times. We agree it with you and your family, write it down, and review it every three months.

How support works
Food

Cooked here, the Calabar way.

Our kitchen cooks three meals a day from the market, with softer and lower-salt versions for anyone who needs them. Families are welcome to stay for lunch.

This week’s menu
Clay pots of stewed meat and vegetables

The best way to know is to come for tea.

Tuesday to Saturday, morning or afternoon. Meet residents, see the rooms, taste lunch. No pressure.
