Most brides come to us with a date and a feeling that they are already late. Usually they are not. Here is how a couture gown comes together, counted back from the day.
Seven to nine months: the consultation
Come with two to four people and an open mind. Most brides try something they would never have chosen from a photograph. You leave with photos, a shortlist and a written quote.
Six months: order and measure
We take thirty two measurements, agree every detail in writing and take a 50% deposit. Your gown gets a production slot in the atelier calendar.
A fitting is not a test. It is a conversation between your body and the gown.
Ten weeks: the first fitting
The gown on you for the first time, with the seams basted. We look at shape, length and how it moves. Bring the shoes, or at least the heel height.
Six weeks and two weeks: the second and final fittings
- Second fitting: detail, lining, bustle, veil placement
- Final fitting: walking, sitting, dancing, and the balance paid
- Collection: a week before, steamed and packed
If your weight changes along the way, that is normal. The gap between fittings is there so we can follow you, not the other way round.
