A church at noon in the dry season and a hall at night with air conditioning are two different climates. Your gown has to live in both.
For the ceremony
Silk crepe and lightweight lace on a breathable lining are the coolest choices. They move with you and do not trap heat. Celeste and Azure Tide are both built this way.
The coolest gown is the one that fits properly. A loose bodice makes you hold your breath.
For the reception
Satin and beading come into their own under evening light. They hold their shape through dancing and catch every bulb in the room. If you are changing into a second gown, this is where Coral Crown belongs.
Small things that help
- A cotton lining layer next to the skin under tulle skirts
- Hidden pockets for a handkerchief and a powder sheet
- A bustle, so the train is off the floor by the first dance
- A lighter veil for outdoor photographs
Ask your stylist to show you each fabric on the skin, under the salon lights and by the window. They look and feel different in each.
