Six things we tell people at the counter

    Measure twice

    Bring measurements in metres and a photo. It saves a second trip.

  2. 02

    Same batch tiles

    Buy all your tiles at once. Batches differ slightly in shade.

  3. 03

    Prime new walls

    New plaster needs a thinned first coat or it drinks paint.

  4. 04

    Tape every thread

    Three turns of PTFE tape clockwise on every threaded joint.

  5. 05

    Copper, not colour

    Scratch the cable end. Real copper is copper all the way through.

  6. 06

    Cure your blocks

    Wet new blockwork morning and evening for a week in dry season.
