Choosing Kano
Ngozi grew up in Kano; Tunde's family came from Lagos and Enugu. They wanted the city where Ngozi's grandparents still live, and a garden cool enough for the elders. The date checker showed one free Saturday in December, and they held it the same evening.
The ceremony
The rose arch was dressed in white and pale pink. The choir from Ngozi's church sang from the lawn steps while the guests sat in curved rows. The sun went behind the palms at exactly the moment they exchanged rings.
The reception
Dinner was the celebration buffet in the Glass Hall: jollof, peppered goat and small chops. Guests in shawls stayed out on the lawn until the music ended at eleven. The photographs from the golden hour now hang in both family homes.
