Tips for gardening in Warri
Practical notes from our gardeners for the weather we actually have: heat, humidity, heavy rain and a short, dusty harmattan.
Getting a garden through the rainy season
From April to October, Warri can get more rain in a week than some cities get in a month. Plants love it, until their roots start to drown.

The harmattan is milder in Warri than up north, but the dry air and dust still brown the tips of ferns, palms and calatheas.

Questions
Quick answers
Why are my leaves turning yellow?
Most often too much water. Let the top of the soil dry before watering again, and check the pot drains.
How often should I feed plants?
Monthly in the growing months, from March to October. Hardly at all in the harmattan.
Can I bring a sick plant in?
Yes, bring it or send a photo on WhatsApp and a gardener will take a look.
