A boat travelling across a wide lake
News · Charter

A wedding on Oyan Lake.

Eighty guests, the Oyan Belle, a talking drum and the dam wall at sunset. Example story for this demo.

The plan

Arrive by water

Funmi and Dayo (example couple) wanted their guests to arrive somewhere none of them had been before. They booked the Oyan Belle for a Saturday in February, five months ahead, and we planned the day with their caterer and their drummer.

Guests gathered at Oyan Jetty at two. The boat left at half past, with the drummer on the bow, and made a slow loop past the islands before stopping below the dam wall for photographs as the light turned gold.

On the day

How it ran

  1. 14:00Guests arrive by shuttle from Abeokuta.
  2. 14:30Boarding, safety briefing, jackets for the children.
  3. 15:30Photographs at the dam wall.
  4. 16:00Lunch on the upper deck from the couple’s caterer.
  5. 18:00Back at the jetty for dancing in the garden.

“Our parents still talk about the boat more than the food. That is saying something.”
