Your Harmattan skin plan

When the dust arrives in December, Abuja skin changes. Our advisers on floor G share the four steps they recommend most.

A clear glass perfume bottle

Harmattan in Abuja means dry air, dust and cool mornings followed by hot afternoons. Skin that felt fine in October can feel tight by mid December.

Start with a gentle cleanser that does not strip. Our advisers suggest washing once with a cream cleanser in the evening and just water in the morning.

Next, a light hydrating layer. A few drops of face oil pressed into damp skin helps it hold moisture through the day.

Then seal it. A rich body butter with shea and baobab on arms, legs and hands after every bath, and a balm on the lips.

Finally, protect. Sunscreen still matters in Harmattan, because the haze does not block all the sun. Ask at the counter for a texture you like.

These are general tips, not medical advice. If your skin is sore or cracked, see a pharmacist or a doctor.

The four steps

  1. Cream cleanser, evenings
  2. Face oil on damp skin
  3. Body butter after every bath
  4. Sunscreen every morning
