A launch engagement from business model to open doors
Business model, brand, digital · 2026
The situation
The operator had signed a lease and a concept but had not settled who the venue was actually for, what it would charge, or how it would differentiate against every other opening on the same strip. The brand and the business case were being built at the same time, by different people, without much talking to each other.
The approach
- 01DiscoverWorked back from the lease and the catchment to understand who could realistically fill the venue on a weekday, not just a launch weekend.
- 02DefineSettled the concept's positioning, pricing tier and the value proposition the front-of-house team would actually say to guests.
- 03DesignBuilt the identity, menu presentation and interior brand touches around that positioning, rather than around the interior designer's own preferences.
- 04BuildStood up the website and booking flow so the digital experience matched what guests would find walking in.
- 05LaunchSequenced a soft opening ahead of the public one, so early service issues were caught before they reached a paying, opinionated crowd.
The outcome
- Fixed pricing and positioning before the menu was finalised, rather than after, so the two did not contradict each other.
- Opened with a booking system and a website live on day one, instead of a placeholder page and a phone number.
- Gave front-of-house staff one line to describe what made the venue different, because that line existed before the doors did.
