Why the dry season is our favourite
From November to February the grass shortens, the herds gather and the mornings are cool enough for a blanket. Here is what changes.
Shorter grass, easier spotting
The plain grass drops from shoulder height to knee height, and animals that hid all summer stand out against the gold.
Herds gather at water
With the creeks low, kob and buffalo come to the oxbow and the salt lick, often within sight of the lodge.
Harmattan mornings
Dusty haze turns the sunrise orange and soft. Bring a jumper for the dawn drive; we bring blankets.
Easy walking
Dry paths mean longer bush walks and fewer mosquitoes. It is the best time for families.
Book early
Christmas and New Year fill by October. Weekdays in January are quiet and cheaper.
Plan
Come and hear it
Stay two nights in a Treehouse or a Savannah Tent and you will hear it all from your bed. Book a stay or see the field guide.
