The collection

Notes from the studio.

Adaeze Nwosu learned adire from her grandmother in Abeokuta and silk draping in a Lagos bridal house. House of Adaeze puts the two together: indigo resist dyeing on heavy silk, pleated by hand and cut into evening dresses that move like water.

This season, called Low Tide, is fourteen looks in indigo, rust and undyed ivory. Each piece takes about nine days, from tying and dyeing to the final hem. Nothing is printed.

The opening look is a floor length pleated gown that took three people a fortnight. It closes with a single rust coat in raw silk, a nod to the lagoon at sunset outside the Pavilion.
