Papers, plates and duty: what you should receive

A new car in Nigeria comes with a small folder of documents. Here is what should be in it, and what to ask for on a used car.

2 October 2026

Customs papers

Every imported car should come with its customs clearance papers. On a new car from us, our clearing agent handles this and you receive the originals at handover.

Registration and plates

We register the car in your name with the state licensing office and fit the plates before delivery. You receive the vehicle licence and proof of ownership.

Road worthiness and insurance

New cars receive a road worthiness certificate. The first year of comprehensive insurance is in our price, through an invented partner insurer for this demo.

The warranty book

Your warranty starts on the day of handover and is logged with the maker. Keep the book in the glovebox; we stamp it at every service.

On a used car

Ask for the customs papers, every past registration, and service records. If any are missing, the price should reflect it, and our certified cars always have them.
