Ikenna Obi
The midfielder who grew up two streets from Monarch Park, joined the academy at eleven and has worn the armband since 2024.

From the pitches of Enugu to Monarch Park
Ikenna Obi first came to Monarch Park on his father's shoulders, to watch from the North End. Two years later he was in the academy, training on the side pitch on Saturday mornings before school football in the afternoon.
He made his debut at seventeen against Jos Tin City and has missed only nine league games since. Coaches describe him as the player who makes others better: the first to press, the last to stop talking on the pitch.
Away from football he studies accountancy part time and runs a free Saturday clinic for under 10s in Abakpa, with boots donated by supporters.
