The 2026 to 2027 season: what to expect on the grass

Season · 3 November 2026. By Mrs Ngozi Anyanwu, Secretary.

Nine Sundays and a new surface

The season opens with club chukkas on 15 November and closes with the awards evening on 4 April. In between are nine fixtures, including the Coal City Open in January and the Hartwell Cup final on 28 February. The south end of the field has been re-levelled over the rains, so expect a faster ground.

Four new ponies

Ebube, Nkem, Dozie and Ola join the lesson string after two years of schooling. They will be gentle in lessons from December.

Expect a faster ground at the south end, and four very well-mannered new ponies.

What changes for spectators

Lawn tickets can now be bought on this site and shown on your phone at the gate. Children under 12 remain free on the lawn, and the car park is marshalled inside the gate.

The juniors

The Pony Club gymkhana returns on 24 January with a new handy pony course and a lead rein class for the very youngest riders.

A word on the heat

Chukkas start at 15:00 or later and no lessons run from 11:00 to 15:00. Please bring water and hats for children on the lawn.
