About

A family house for celebrations

Emerald Crest was built by the Nwachukwu family in 2016 on the belief that Owerri deserved a venue as generous as its people.

Our story

From a family plot to Owerri's ballroom

For years the Nwachukwu family hosted every wedding, christening and homecoming in the compound of their family house. When the guest lists grew past the compound walls, they built a hall next door. That hall became the Grand Ballroom, and the compound garden became the Garden Terrace.

Today Emerald Crest hosts more than eighty events a year, from the biggest weddings of the Christmas season to quiet committee meetings on weekday mornings. It is still run by the family, with a team of thirty eight full time staff.

2016

The Grand Ballroom opens with its first wedding, for 700 guests.

2018

The Garden Terrace and pavilion are added.

2020

Two synchronised generators replace the old set.

2023

2025

Our 640th event, and new cooling in the ballroom.
