Choosing glass for hot afternoons and cold nights
Jos is cooler than most of Nigeria, but west-facing rooms still bake by 4pm and nights get chilly in harmattan. The right glass helps with both.

Know which way the room faces
West-facing rooms take the strongest heat in the late afternoon. East-facing rooms get the gentler morning sun. North and south are easiest. Start there before choosing glass.
Reflective and tinted glass
Reflective glass bounces back a large share of solar heat and gives daytime privacy. Bronze tint is softer, cutting glare and some heat. Both suit west-facing rooms and offices.
Double glazing for the cold
From November to February, Jos nights can drop low enough to want a blanket. Double glazing holds warmth in bedrooms and cuts traffic and generator noise as a bonus.
Do not forget shade
Glass works best with shade: roof overhangs, trees and blinds. A good overhang on a west window can do as much as expensive glass.
