Intermediate Through New Haven
Roundabout run
Three roundabouts of different sizes, two sets of traffic lights and a busy market road.
Advanced Up towards the ridge
The hill route
Steep climbs and descents with a stop on the slope for hill starts, then a winding road back down.
Advanced Out of town and back
Expressway stretch
Joining and leaving a dual carriageway, overtaking safely and keeping a steady speed with trucks around.
Weather and light
Rain, dusk and dark
Enugu rain arrives fast. On the full course you drive one lesson in the rain season wet and one after dark, with an instructor who has done it thousands of times.
- Wipers, demister and lights set before moving off
- Double the gap to the car in front in rain
- Headlights dipped for oncoming traffic, full beam on empty roads
- Watch for unlit keke and pedestrians at dusk

Is the road test on these routes?
We cannot know the examiner route, but these four cover every kind of road you may meet.
Can I practise my commute?
Yes. In your later lessons, bring the route to work or campus and we will drive it with you.
When do I move to the hill route?
When hill starts on gentle slopes are smooth three times in a row, usually around lesson eight.
Do you avoid rush hour?
Early lessons, yes. Later on, a little rush hour is good practice.
