Applying
Who can apply
Young people who live in or come from Kaduna State, who are doing well at school and whose household income is under ₦250,000 a month. Each programme has its own extra rules, listed on its page.
Does it cost anything
No. Applying is free. Nobody from the trust will ever ask you to pay to apply or to move your form forward.
Can I apply on paper
Yes. Paper forms are at the Barnawa office and all partner schools. We give you a reference when you hand it in.
Can I apply for more than one programme
Only one per cycle. The one minute check on the home page shows which fits best.
When do applications close
Midnight on 15 January 2027. Paper forms must reach the office by 16:00 that day.
Tracking and tests
Where do I find my reference
On screen when you submit and in the SMS we send. It looks like BFT-26-0417.
Where are the aptitude tests
In Barnawa, Zaria and Kafanchan on Saturdays. You choose the nearest when you apply.
Is travel paid
Yes. We pay ₦3,000 travel money in cash at every test and interview, for the applicant and one adult.
I cannot make my test date
Message us at least three days before and we move you to the next date.
Money and payments
Is the money paid to me
Fees go straight to the school, college or university. Allowances and transport money go to the scholar’s own bank account.
What if fees go up
We review our limits every year. If your school raises fees mid session, tell us and we look at it case by case.
Do I have to pay it back
No. Awards are grants, not loans. We only ask scholars to keep in touch and, if they can, to mentor a younger scholar later.
Keeping the award
What happens if my grades drop
We look at the reason first and offer tutoring. Nobody loses an award for one bad term.
Can I change school or course
Usually yes, inside Kaduna State or Northern Nigeria for undergraduates. Tell us within two weeks.
What if my family situation improves
Tell us. We may reduce the award gradually over a year rather than stop it suddenly.
