Phases 01 – 05

Market Expansion

Entry into a new geography, segment or category.

The situation

Market Expansion is for a business that already works somewhere and is deciding whether the same model will work somewhere new: a different city, a different customer segment, a different category adjacent to the current one. The instinct is usually to copy the playbook that worked the first time. That playbook rarely transfers unchanged, because the economics, the competitive set and the buyer behaviour in the new market are usually different in ways that only become obvious after the money is spent.

How the phases apply

  • 01DiscoverWe test the new market's economics and buyer behaviour before committing resources, rather than assuming the first market's playbook will simply repeat itself.
  • 02DefinePositioning and go-to-market are adapted specifically for the new market, not copied from the original one with the names changed.
  • 03DesignIdentity and messaging are adjusted only where the new market genuinely requires it, keeping what already works and changing only what does not translate.
  • 04BuildThe digital and marketing foundations needed for the new market are built, sequenced so early spend goes toward finding out what works before it scales.
  • 05LaunchEntry is sequenced with a clear point at which the business would stop and reconsider, not just a plan for what happens if it works.

What you walk away with

An expansion plan built on evidence from the new market itself, with a defined way to know early if it needs to change course.

What business are we building?

Every engagement starts with a conversation about the business, not the brief. Ninety minutes, no obligation, and you leave with something useful either way.
