The play

Nine Days of Harmattan

The harmattan has closed the airport and the roads are slow. In a house on Atekong Drive a mother, a father and a daughter wait for a son who said he was coming home. Nine days, nine scenes, one long conversation that nobody wants to have. Our artistic director’s first play in ten years.

Written in Calabar over two years and developed with the ensemble in our studio, the play has been shaped by the actors who perform it. Directed by Bassey Ita, with design by Bassey Ita and music by the Opus drummers.

Quiet, patient and devastating. The last scene will stay with you on the drive home.
